Darker than usual ESB named after the bull terrier. Off-white, loose, creamy head, reddish bronze colour, clear. Strong caramelly, nutty and chocolatey malts in the nose, blueberries, dates, pepper, bark, nutmeg, tobacco. Restrained fruitiness, refreshing, crisp, medium carbo, smooth nutty maltiness, caramel, abruptly replaced by a confident peppery and leafy, very long hop bitterness. Atypical for the style but a very enjoyable ale.
