Draft at GBBF 2014 - London. Pours rich black-brown with a frothy beige head. Nice chocolate character with hints of licorice, burnt toast, dark berries. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Well balanced finish with light ashy roast, burnt earth, chocolate, bread and dried berries. Sound.

Cask at the Ambrose Hotel, Barrow-in-Furness. Deep gold, almost copper. A bit hazy. Malty, metallic, citrus and herby aroma. Taste is bitter-sour, more metal, a bit of cooked vegetable. Fairly wrong from start to finish. Didn’t help that it was served far too cold and not quite in the best condition. But this is not a good product. No cellarmanship could make this work.
