Gravity poured cask pint on 5th Nov 2015 at the 1st CAMRA beer festival in Shifnal, Shropshire. Clear old gold colour with a lasting white head. The aroma and taste both had a smouldering, smoky feel to them, malt led throughout with very little hop presence noticeable. I liked it, a little different to anything else this brewery has tried before: I hope they try to create more interesting and challenging brews in the future, although I do like their usual range also.

Gravity cask at Nottingham festival day two with fonefan, Charlotte & chriso. Hazy to cloudy brown color. Aroma of burnt toast. Taste is toasted brownies. Good stuff.

Cask at the Crwon Inn with BlackHaddock. Clear golden yellow color, fluffy white head. Aroma of light black pepper and hay. Taste is peppery straw. Nice.

4th Oct 2015: hand-pulled half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire. Light and bright golden bodied brew, the head a white pillow of foam. Decent blend, the nose and taste both leaning slightly towards a light maltiness and semi-sweetness. Balanced nicely by the hop content to produce an easy drinking beer for the Rugby World Cup.

Cask (gravity) @ Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival (2014), Nottingham Castle, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EL. [ As Rowton Moonstruck Mild ].Clear medium to dark red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, malty, caramel, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141009]

Cask at the Black Boy, Bridgnorth. Mid gold with a small white head. Lots of lacing. This is a new barrel so it’s pretty lively! Wheaty aroma with slight astringency. Very tasty... A malt-led sweet gives way to a somewhat sulphurous bitterness. While this is certainly malt-led, the First Gold hops (which I don’t usually like) add a well-balanced spiciness. For a low ABV beer, it certainly has a nice mouthfeel, aided by natural carbonation. This is my second day in Shropshire and I’ve never seen so many low ABV goldens. But this one’s special.

15th April 2015: cask half-pint in the excellent Cock Hotel, Wellington Shropshire. The pump clip says it is a Stout with added Port: and that is how I saw and tasted it. Dark ruby red hue to the body, a tanned topping stayed for the duration of the half. Malty Stout goodness with the added flavours of Port: it doesn’t come much better than this in cask form. Another winner from a lovely brewer and bloke in general.
