Description
Rowton Brewery was established in October 2008 by Jim Preston. Purpose built in a converted Victorian cattle shed on the family farm the micro-brewery has plenty of character.

Rowton Brewery has been supplying the good people of Shropshire with traditionally brewed real ales since 2008.

Consistency is maintained by getting the basics right every brew by using high quality Maris Otter malt, the finest hops sourced from round the world and water drawn from our own borehole.

The theme around the breweries logo and merchandise is based around the Rowton Meteorite that landed in the village of Rowton in 1876, which is believed to be the only Iron Meteorite that has been seen to hit the Earth in the United Kingdom. The Meteorite is currently in the Natural History Museum in London.

Hand-pulled pint at the source on 7th August 2024. Clean and clear light golden body, snow white crown on top. Hoppy and dry, light farmyard like aroma didn't do it any favours, tasted fine though.

Keg @ The Pheasant, Wellington. Pours gold with a fine mist, white head. Tropical hop nose. Characterful hop shades, fruity sweet swirls.. quite nice, prob best keg I've had from Rowton I reckon.

Keg pint at the brewpub on 15th January 2024; Steve the brewery was there to watch me try it! Only a slight haze to the golden body, the head a smooth white affair that hung around. Galaxy hops do their Australian thing with that citrussy bite and soft fruity flavours, all tempered down a little by the Pearle hops and the Malty base. Liked it!

Hand-pulled pint at the Pheasant Inn & Brewpub on a very busy 22nd December 2023. Not too sure what this has to do with Christmas unless you have grapefruit for breakfast Christmas morning. Clean, clear and bright golden body, white crust. Intense grapefruit aroma and taste, nothing else gets through. Body depth a little lacking, sorry but didn't take to it. Only had the one beer as the place was heaving with 'once a year' drinkers who don't understand pub etiquette.

Slightly hazy gold with a bubbly/frothy white head and cereal on the nose with just a hint of citrus. Big and punchy alcohol up front, some sweetish light malt, grapefruit bitterness and a dry finish.
