Description
Rowton Brewery was established in October 2008 by Jim Preston. Purpose built in a converted Victorian cattle shed on the family farm the micro-brewery has plenty of character.
Rowton Brewery has been supplying the good people of Shropshire with traditionally brewed real ales since 2008.
Consistency is maintained by getting the basics right every brew by using high quality Maris Otter malt, the finest hops sourced from round the world and water drawn from our own borehole.
The theme around the breweries logo and merchandise is based around the Rowton Meteorite that landed in the village of Rowton in 1876, which is believed to be the only Iron Meteorite that has been seen to hit the Earth in the United Kingdom. The Meteorite is currently in the Natural History Museum in London.

Keg, half-pint at the Wrekin Inn on 19th March 2023. Hazy orange body, white crown. The hops combine well to give a pleasant citrus bite to the brew, smooth body and 'more-ish'. Liked it.

Cask @ The Pheasant, Wellington. Misty pale gold that takes a short time to settle, good white head. Decent amount of flavour for 3%.. pillowy malt with fruity sulphur.. decent.

Cask @ The Pheasant, Wellington. Pours dark with a well-positioned white collar that's not going anywhere. Pleasant light smokiness to this, unsure if intentional, gentle liquorice shades, dried dark fruits.. not bad at all.

Hand-pulled pint at the source on 3rd February 2023. Clean and clear golden body, white crown on top. Decent 'Table Beer' with subtle aroma and flavours, nice blend of hops and malts. Not too bitter and not too sweet, just short on alcohol.

Keg @ Wrekin Inn, Wellington. Relatively clear gold with perhaps a little chill haze, white head. Light citrus nose. Crisp, fresh palate with a simple citric hop feel, with mild lemon and grapefruit nods. Ok refresher.

Cask @ Wrekin Inn, Wellington. Clear golden yellow appearance, white head. Malty trad feel, light pale malt sweetness, gentle floral glimpses, but overall extremely light in terms of malt or hop flavour, and lacking in any real character.

Keg pint, poured by the brewer in The Pheasant on 30th July 2022. This is his first keg beer, usually brews cask ales. Cheers Steve. Light hazy golden body, white topping. Citrussy front to the nose and taste, as you'd expect with Citra and Mosaic hops in the brew. Liked it.
