Description
Rowton Brewery was established in October 2008 by Jim Preston. Purpose built in a converted Victorian cattle shed on the family farm the micro-brewery has plenty of character.

Rowton Brewery has been supplying the good people of Shropshire with traditionally brewed real ales since 2008.

Consistency is maintained by getting the basics right every brew by using high quality Maris Otter malt, the finest hops sourced from round the world and water drawn from our own borehole.

The theme around the breweries logo and merchandise is based around the Rowton Meteorite that landed in the village of Rowton in 1876, which is believed to be the only Iron Meteorite that has been seen to hit the Earth in the United Kingdom. The Meteorite is currently in the Natural History Museum in London.

Hand-pulled half-pint at The Pheasant Inn & Brewhouse on 1st April 2022, drank with Steve the brewer and his brother Pete. Clean and clear light golden body, white topping. Plenty of hops in this citrussy brew, obviously a bit 'thin' body wise given it's only 3.6% ABV but it's a decent enough brew all the same.

Two hand-pulled pints at the opening of the breweries new pub, The Wrekin Inn. Clean golden pours, white crown on top. Light fruity aroma and taste, mini-sweetness from the Caramalt, uncomplicated blend and very easy to drink.

24th November 2021. My sister-in-law had four hand-pulled cask pints of this, one at The Pheasant and three on the re-opening of The Wrekin; I helped myself to a few sips of each (just for quality checks of course). It's a Chocolate Stout more than a Milk Stout, creamy texture, smooth black body with a tanned head.

Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Light gold and clear with a decent if slightly loose white head. White grapefruit, hay, some grassy character in the aroma. Bittersweet taste with a more pronounced bitterness in the finish. More citrus in the aftertaste. A decent enough beer, slightly better than I'd anticipated.

Two cask pints, hand-pulled in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates on 22nd May 2021. Clear mahogany body, lasting beige head that offered up some good lacing. Traditional strong Mild (most likely trying to be similar to Sarah Hughes's Dark Ruby Mild), treacle like sweetness mid-sip, good malty nose and flavour. Liked it!

Hand-pulled cask pint in Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, Oakengates on 22nd May 2021. Clear golden body, rocky white head. Dry, hoppy and fairly bitter, light citrus leanings from the hops.
