In this new world of sustainability and with a focus on the environment Monty’s is driving towards a more sustainable process. In the brewery we heat the water for each brew from the previous brew through plate heat exchangers, all helping to keep our carbon footprint down as much as we can. We don’t use any plastic in our packaging, and our waste grain, feeds local cattle, our first and last beer run-ins which would be a waste product are fed to a herd of Welsh Wagyu.

August 2017: 500 ml bottle conditioned, from Gulating Ølutsalg, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Golden colour, large white head. Nice malty aroma, hints of earthy hops, no sign of Citra and tropical fruits. Comes through a bit more as the beer warms up a little. The fairly dry flavour is first malty, then some citrussy notes that helps the drinkability. No tropical fruits though. Okay.

33cl bottle, courtesy of SarkyNorthener, pours with a crystal clear pure deep gold colored body that supports a nice near white head of foam. The aroma offers up modest clouds of plum and figs drizzled with caramel and then a light hit of boozy heat at the end of the draw. The taste delivers an array of inviting sweet dark fruity esters that take the form of brown sugar stewed sweet ripe cherries, plums and a bit of fig. To midway modest reduce sugar notes murmur to the surface with a blend of brown sugar, caramel and a sense of molasses. This works really well. Solid offering.
