Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small beige head. The aroma has roasted malts and treacle. In the mouth treacle and parking are immediately to the fore along with hints of liquorice and vanilla. After a while the roasted malts come through as well – and that’s when you discover the flight sweetness and syrupy texture. Finish is quite bitter. This is pretty da*n good.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a cloudy / murky orange with a medium sized frothy white head and good lacing. The aroma has malts and nuts. In the mouth it starts off sweet and juicy with orange as the main flavour. After a while some bitterness creeps in with pine and hints of tropical fruits and peaches. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. Not bad at all, though not really my sort of beer.

On cask at Mallard, Worksop - Clear yellow body, no head. Big notes of spruce in the nose and taste, get loads of stone fruit and tart citrus in the taste. Not that sweet, but very, very nice.
