Cask handpull at The Lifeboat Margate. Clear amber colour lasting white head. Black pepper aroma some malt too. Great England bitter aroma. Some toffee in the mouth. Then dry finish. Herby English hop finish. Sone peppery hop finish. Like Rocket salad but toffee throughout too. I liked it. Very creamy pour.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. An attractive glossy mahogany colour with a tawny gleam and a thin cream coloured head; aroma of damp earth, coffee grounds and licorice; quite full bodied with a nutty, earthy, malt taste, and a dry herbal bitterness; then a long lingering licorice finish. A rather good porter.

Gravity cask at the Ale Taster, St Neots. Light golden, hazy with a small ring of white head. Light grapefruit aroma, but there’s a heavy malt hit as well with some lemon peel and ammonia. Taste is more balanced, with the bitterness of the hop into the fore. Bitter/astringent finish with grapefruit and apricot notes in the aftertaste. It’s a bit unwieldy but certainly not bad.

Cask @ Rising Sun, Manchester. Blonde with a creamy head. Has a citrus lemon and grapefruit nose, but is disappointingly bland with its hoppy taste.
