Description
The brewery is still a small family run operation and currently employs over 20 people. The business was set up by Shane and Alison Parr, with lots of help from Iain and Anne Reid (Alison’s parents) and Innes Reid (Alison’s brother), but we survive and thrive on the great crew we have working with us.
Our brewing plant capacity has been upgraded over the years and now is now 100 brewer’s barrels (28,800 pints) per week, which allows us to meet demand during peak periods. In 2013 we constructed a purpose built, energy efficient brew house, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our environmental impact by saving water and energy.

Cask @ Stonehouse Brewery. Pours a generally clear blonde, white head. Fresh mellow bitter, soothing pale malt, mild bitterness. Not detecting any orangey marmalade notes whatsoever. Nice anyway.

Keg @ Stonehouse Brewery. Pours opaque haze golden orange, moderate sized white head. Lightly fruity nose, some orangey peach suggestions. Looking at the beer in the glass expected a thicker, smoother, fuller body but it drinks fairly light with a generally mild hop profile, gentle citrussy shades, distant stonefruit hints. Decent easy-going pale.

[June 2022] On its day, as good a traditional cask bitter as you will find. Pours a lovely looking clear amber with a creamy white head and a soft fruit malt and slightly floral aroma. Smooth, fruity, malty and a little nutty with a nice English floral bitterness in the finish

Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Almost clear golden pour, white crown. El Dorado hops doing their thing here, semi-sweet tropical/citrusy fruit aromas and flavours.

Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Clean golden body, white crown. I like Idaho 7 hops and they impart both citrusy and piney elements to a beer, they certainly do in this one.
