Our brewing plant capacity has been upgraded over the years and now is now 100 brewer’s barrels (28,800 pints) per week, which allows us to meet demand during peak periods. In 2013 we constructed a purpose built, energy efficient brew house, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our environmental impact by saving water and energy.

I remember spending a few nights in a hotel in Blackpool in the 1980"s, revisiting what I think was called The Albany - it's no longer a hotel, nor does it look like any work has been done to the property since I stayed there! This beer found in the Blackpool of today is a crisp hoppy ale with a bitterness. Easy session material and is blonde with a creamy head.

Cask at Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Pours a pale straw with a greenish tinge, a medium sized frothy off-white head and good lacing. Is slow to settle but does so eventually. There’s plenty of citrus, lemon and grapefruit in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet but with a little underlying bitter and sharpness. Floral hops give the flavour with citrus and lemon again. Hints of melon and grapefruit come later leading to a slightly dry finish. This is a reasonable beer but there too much citrus for my taste.

Half-pint. Chalk white head resting over a clear golden body, spotty lacing. Inviting with grass and oily hops on the nose. Grapefruit up front to the taste buds, hints of lemon as well. Fair fruity bitterness to the finish. Decent. (Liverpool, 12.02.2025).

Bottle from Chester Beer and Wine. Pours black, some faint ruby red showing in the light. Thin beige head. Nice roasty aroma with big coffee notes. Taste is the same with some of the vanilla essence helping to give sweetness without tasting artificial. Quite dry with a lightness of body to counterbalance. Good.
