Rhymney Brewery
Microbrewery
in Blaenavon,
Torfaen,
Wales 🏴
Associated Venue: Andrew Buchan
Established in 2005
Rhymney Brewery, has taken up the most famous name in Welsh brewing to emphasise the fact that they are bringing back the old traditional flavours using modern methods and organic natural ingredients. All over Britain our beer has lost its local flavour. There are sadly few small independent breweries remaining in South Wales. Admittedly the Rhymney name disappeared when the Brewery was taken over by Whitbread. Till now...!

Cask gravity at London Drinker BF 07. Chestnut colour with thin off white head. Bit ugly on the malt. Bit ugly everywhere to be honest. Faint hop on the dry finish.

Cask gravity at London Drinker BF 07. Very dark brown with no head. Oily dark beer. Odd dark beer, it’s a pretty good if slightly spiced porter. Fine.

Bottle from Asda, Cardiff: Chestnut brown with a good cream head; aroma of malt; taste of roasted malt with very little bitterness - rather stewed by pasturisation.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Pale chestnut. Bit of stale toffee malt on aroma. Not too much of anything else to be honest, bit of earthy/muddy dryness on end. Has an edge of herb/spice that I’m not sure of.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 06. Chestnut with lasting white head. Good malt, some red fruit/toffee. Some farty/yeast aroma. Doesn’t taste as if its fully brewed out.
