Description
Focussing on "the good side of life" is what Big Belly Brewing is all about. We love things a little bigger, going the extra mile, adding something special, being more creative. But above all, we love things in life that are a bit more fun.

All our beers are well balanced and made with premium "The Swean" malts, so we get the full, distinctive beers that we are proud of. After coming up with a special touch, we design a legendary character for every beer. Finally, we write and add an amusing story about the character and the beer. That's how we make one of the most fun things, drinking beer, even more fun.

330ml can. Cloudy, yellow-ish, pale golden colour with average to huge, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Wheaty malty and citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of lemon, a touch of banana, minimally waxy overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, wheaty malty and slightly citrusy fruity hoppy, hints of lemon, orange peel, some zesty bitterness, a peppery spicy touch of coriander. Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Fairly meaty - very nice.

Can at Bierhuys Woerden. Hazy pale gold colour thin white head. Its a light neipa full of tropical fruit without the dank or thick mouthfeel. Yes lots of fruit. OK. Light beer. Vaguely bitter finish. Ok

I have a 33 cl bottle that was delivered by Smaakhuis. My oversized Straffe Hendrik tulip glass gets the call this evening, I open the bottle and pour. The color is an unusual-for-a-quad amber with a decent ring of silvery tan foam. The scent definitely leans towards pastry or dessert of some kind. But I’m here for the drink and here it is. I can determine raisins along with spiced apples, perhaps some dough, alcohol, cola and syrup. There is a curious burn as I drink. Not bad but not on my list to buy again. But if someone offered one up, that’s a different story.

330ml can from the Jumbo, Den Haag. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate to light bitter and sweet, with a light, somewhat watery, mango, tart pineapple, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

I’ve been plenty satisfied with Big Belly quadrupels in the past. This 33 cl bottle was delivered by Smaakhuis early this year, now ready to be opened and sampled. My Chimay glass is ready and waiting for a pour after I get some of the dip wax stripped away. Super dark mahogany brown body and a thin light tan skim of foam that is seeing some help from a steady charge of carbonation. The nose reflects a significant adjunct infusion, I detect chocolate, stewed prunes and vanilla. Same with the taste, anything quadrupel is pushed to the back. Chocolate and vanilla, red fruit, coconut, candy, some malt, medicine and baked bread. A dessert quad. My least favorite of the Big Belly flavored-up quadrupels I have tried. But I don’t mind adventure.

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Dark brown, mid sized head. Aroma of coconut, coconut and coconut. Very sweet with full body and rounded, syrupy mouthfeel. Tastes like syrup filled with coconut, coconut and more coconut. One of the most lopsided beers in history.

Can. Color: Black, brown head, Aroma: Roasted malt, cocoa, light hints of smoke. Taste: Dry, earthy, roasted malt, subtle smoke and cocoa. Hints of liquorice and boozy hints. Moderate sweet, light going to moderate bitterness. Just over medium body, just below average carbonation. Pretty nice.
