Description
Up Front Brewing was founded in 2015 with the aim of sharing our love of exceptional beers and great artwork, with a wider audience.
Here at Up Front we have no loans, no investors, and no kickstarter funding - everything is paid for up front. We brew by renting space in other people’s breweries, with each batch paid for as it’s brewed.
We have very little in the way of overheads, which allows us to spend a considerable amount of time and effort into researching and experimenting with new yeast, bacteria, ingredients, and brewing techniques from around the world. We brew mostly out of 71 Brewing in Dundee, but also use other breweries as and when required.
Up Front has used both Drygate and Alechemy as a base.

440ml can shared with haddock after our obscure lager odyssey. Excellent multi layered stout, really nicely balanced, smooth full body, good milk chocolate character with welcome coconut cream shades on the finish. Can't detect too much bourbon influence, but it's entertaining enough without further elements coming into play. Very accomplished BA stout.

440ml can: BB 12th Jan 2022. Supplied by Mat, we shared this after our mega world lager and UK cider tasting, just to make sure we still had taste buds and a sense of smell! Black bodied, tanned topping. Bourbon and malty nose with a coconut overtone. The coconut dominates the taste with the bourbon being pushed below the surface, it's smooth and very pleasant. My senses are fine.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours lightly hazy golden amber with a small white head. The aroma is fresh, sour, zingy, juicy passionfruit, peachy, sour candy, salted cracker and savoury, herbal accents. The taste is crisp, dry, zingy, puckering, juicy, sour, passionfruit, peach, sherbet dib dab, sour candy, fizzy cola bottles, minerality, citrus vibes, savoury edge and very little of that 9% alcohol. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Bright, puckering, fruity and moreish.

440ml can. Pours hazy light gold with a medium head. Aroma is salty and metallic passionfruit and lime. Taste has salty passionfruit throughout with a little lime and salt on the finish. Not overly sour or tart.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy bright orange with a decent white head. The aroma is rich, juicy and ripe, great depth of ripe stone fruits, peach, mango, persimmon, nectarine, passionfruit, um bungo, orange chewits, fruitella, nip of pine, green, weedy, dank and spice. The taste is thick and dry upfront, touch of light citrus acidity which dissipates, then it's pithy, zesty, grapefruit, bitter orange peel, tangerine, kumquat, light bitterness, ripe and pulpy stone fruits, mango, apricot, passionfruit, some weed, green vibes, floury bread and a nip of alcohol. Finish is lingering green and dry vibes. Medium+ body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Surprised by the previous couple of ratings as this has a lot of character and depth of flavour. So much to it. Very enjoyable and rewarding.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours pretty much black with a small light tan head. The aroma is sweet and sticky, rich roasted malt, unctuous, chocolate, coconut cream, bourbon biscuits, twinkies, light menthol vibe, bourbon soaked oak, maltesers and mars bar. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, toffee, fudge, salted caramel, loads of vanilla, coconut cream, toasted marshmallow, roasted malt, mars bars, maltesers, nougat, touch if warming booze, spice, charred action, cola and earth with a drying, bitter - sweet finish. Medium+ body and average carbonation. Not as sweet as feared and hides alcohol well. Perhaps lacking a bit of depth. Not bad Anyhow. Gets u boosted.
