Description
Tomos & Lilford was begun in 2013, by Rolant Tomos and brothers, Rob and Jim Lilford. We started up in a shipping container held together with crocodile clips and a lot of love. Today the love remains, but we’re an eight-barrel outfit supplying retailers of all shapes and sizes, restaurants, bars and festivals throughout the UK. We brew the signature beers for some of Wales’s most loved places and people including Wrights Food Emporium, the Scarlets rugby team and St Fagan’s, the National Museum of History.

17th Aug 2020, monthly beer share in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury (just four of us on this one). Cheers Mat, or Mike? For this 440ml can. Gold body, white topping. Cucumber beer is not a thing I craze and this beer hasn't changed my view on the subject.

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, August 2020. Picked up from Bottle & Barrel, Aberystwyth. Generally clear gold, frothy white head. Although it states it's an IPA on the can, this is really all about the cucumber. It's quite prominent on the nose, and courses through on the palate with a flinty dry and bitter character. A little watery. No noticeable juniper. Not sure I will ever understand the appeal of cucumber in a beer, but there you go.

Pint can from Wally's deli/store. Pale golden, light haze, huge foamy head. Grassy, citrus aroma, lemons. Taste offers light lemon peel, straw, hay, grain. Soft on the palate with a tart, bitter finiish.

Can from Watson and Pratt's, Lampeter. Hazy deep gold with a large white head and a moderate fizz. It lives up to its description - it's a sour beer that tastes of rose, sure enough. It's sweetish at first with quite a dry finish. It's rather an elegant-tastinh drink (certainly too elegant for the pizza I had it with!) - you could actually imagine this appealing to the G&T and champagne drinkers. On the down side it's a bit one-dimensional. I enjoyed it it nevertheless, it's always nice to try something different.

Thuis uit een halve literfles. Leuk etiket. Licht troebel amberkleur, weinig schuim. Aroma wat zuur en klein beetje hop. Smaak: ook een beetje zuur, wel fris en klein beetje bitter. Vlakke nasmaak, niet heel bijzonder.

500ml bottle, drank at home on 19th May 2019. Off-white head on an amber body, slight ginger twist to the aroma and taste. Rosemary? Not sure, but I enjoyed the ride of this interesting beer.

Clear medium amber colour, small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, no lacing. Aroma sweet malts, ginger, laos, lemon grass, rosemary. Mild herbal taste, light to medium sweet and bitter, malty, ginger, rosemary, fruity notes. Aftertaste as in taste with spicy notes, light body, watery texture, soft carbonation, mild herbal beer, nice.

500ml bottle from Ludlow Farm Shop. Pours black with a finger of beige head. Aroma is lightly salty, dark malt. Light bodied with dark malts, interesting salty notes playing with the bitterness on the finish, soft roast, distant chocolate. Ok.

Slightly hazy medium golden colour, tall frothy off-white head, dissipating slowly, good lacing. Aroma pale malt, grain, ginger/grains of paradise, floral hops. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, light lemon, gingery, spicy bite. Bittersweet aftertaste, grainy, light orange pith, paper, lingering ginger/grains of paradise. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, golden ale with a spicy twist, quite nice actually.

Thuis, een halve liter fles gedeeld met Eus. Mooi etiket, stijlvol. Helder gouden kleur, gewoon een lekker pils wat mij betreft.
