Description
Established in 2017 in the most Eastern point of mainland Scotland, we brew our beers in small batches in the nautical town of Peterhead. At Brew Toon we are passionate about creating bold, adventurous craft beers, packed full of flavour and character. We strive to use local ingredients where ever possible and pride ourselves on this provenance.

Brew Toon was born out of a passion for brewing and craftsmanship in general.

Our brewery is based on a historic site in Peterhead, which was once home to "Hunter & Sons - Tanfield Brewery". This heritage is hugely important to us and massively influential in how we run our brewery today.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy yellow to orange with a nicely proportioned snow white head. Nose - grapefruit, custard and light pine. Taste - grapefruit, orange and light resin. Palate - light bodied, balanced bitterness. Overall - more bitter than expected for NEIPA style, and that's welcome.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy golden - orange with a decent white head. The aroma is sweet, tangy, juicy, tropical vibes, big kiwi vibes, greengage, melon, lemon - lime and sherbet. The taste is initially some light dry bitterness, pithy, zesty citrus, lime sherbet, plenty of kiwi fruit, melon, greengage, some green weedy vibes from the hop and light citrus acidity. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice real kiwi fruit character throughout. Pretty pleasant stuff.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden and bright with a huge, creamy, white head. Nose - pineapple, lemon and passionfruit. It's a bit subtle. Taste - big juicy, fresh pineapple note this time round. No mistaking it's in there. Again, a touch of citrus, probably lemon again. Palate - light bodied, dry refreshing finish with a pretty good linger. Overall - enjoyable. The crisp pilsner style keeps the ripe pineapple in check.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours ever so slightly hazy pale golden with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is bright gooseberry, white grape, blackberry, blackcurrant yogurt, sherbet, refreshers, gummy bears and dull grassy/herbal accents. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, snappy, spritzy, sour, puckering, sherbet upfront, gooseberry, white grape, vinous, nip of acidity which quickly dissipates, softens and sweetens to a pleasant wine gun character and light minerality with a dry, puckering finish. Medium body and moderate, lively carbonation. So bright and moreish. Very well judged. Crushable. The best BT beer I've had to date.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours lightly hazy orangey - golf with a medium frothy white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, tropical and juicy, bubblegum, mango, papaya, Fanta ice cream float and passion fruit. The taste is initially dry, subsequently a bit chalky and floury, then softens and sweetens, apricot, papaya, mango, citrus peel, persimmon, lilt, funky bears, touch of greenness and spice with a dry, fruity finale. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty nice tropical vibes, particularly on the snout. Taste is a touch more muddled. Decent gear anyhow.

Clear, pink-ish beer with a thin head that quickly fizzes away. Dry raspberry aroma. Taste is pretty dry too. Not as sharp as I was expecting it might be, not really very tart at all but it does still have a good whack of raspberry in there, and a bit of a savoury, biscuity quality to it as well with a bit of cream both in the taste and the feel of it. Not exciting but it's very drinkable!
