Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts, online. Clear chestnut colour with nice creamy looking white head. Aroma is quite sweet with notes of caramel, brown bread, plums, dried fruit. Taste of caramel, honey, toasted malts, plums, light tartness, moderate bitterness and drying powdery finish. Body is a little thin, carbonation is fine. Tasty red ale although I think a 5% version would give it more body and oomph.

Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours near black with small beige head. Quite a meaty stout aroma, plenty of dark malts, coffee, hint of fruit, liquorice. Taste of roasted malt to the fore with chocolate, coffee, liquorice, hint of dark fruit, some spicy and herbal bitter hop. Just enough sweetness to balance. Medium bodied, semi-dry. Very good.
