3/8/2023. Can from CentrAle, Newcastle. Pours very dark brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is ashy, earthy, chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, toffee. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness with a slight tart edge. Medium body, oily and creamy, bit above average carbonation. Fruity chocolate roasted finish with hints of the cooked beetroot maybe. Good beer. Bad war.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Light to mid-gold and clear with a loose white head. Some strong sweaty stone fruit in the aroma, with some gentle citrus notes. Sweet, strong, syrupy taste. Apricot mixing with a grassy character to give an intense impression. Light body with soft carbonation. Struggling to figure out the reason for the low rates as the beer is fantastic.

Sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty and caramel malty aroma, notes of toffee, couverture, dark caramel, some coffee, spicy whiffs of celery and lovage. Taste is slightly sweet, roasty and chocolately, dark malty, slightly caramel malty, notes of coffee, cocoa, toffee, some dark caramel, minimally ashy interludes. Creamy texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation. Very nice composition, fairly rich and manifold, harmonious, excellent mouthfeel - exquisite.
