Golden colour you'd expect from an APA, with a very small white head. The smell is a citrusey hoppyness, which is very nice for the style. The taste is a bit watery, after a good hop kick. Not much of a malt balance on this one, but all-in-all, not a bad beer. Now off to find the Lagunitas IPA!

Gold, lasting white head.Spicy yeasty nose. Sweet spicy yeast forestaste that finishes quite dry & acidic, almost puckery.

Bottled. Redish amber. Rich grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet and malty with clean, hard mouthfeel. The finish is sharp and resiny. Too raw and unbalanced to impress. All this apart, it is still a good beer, but I expect more of a barley wine than hops.

Amber-foxy; thick yellowish head, collapsing. Nose of preserved (confits) dessert fruit, sugared oranges, Mandarine Napoléon. Hop punch, about an inch below the beltline. Malty underbuild, roasted malt. Liqueurish flavour, aperitif wine. Dry and sweet at the same time. Hops keep going on. Quite good. But for a barley wine, I could do with some more spiciness and dark malts, something plumpudding-like…

Chestnut colour, mahogany. Yellowish-amber head, thick. Nose of orange-marmalade cake. Beautifully hoppy-bitter, restrained and yet powerful. There’s a mighty malt punch underneath, a rich, velvety cake. Something pine-y there as well, resinous. Blends in well. Rich, full mouthfeel. Alcohol there, but restrained. The resinous hops are still there in the aftertaste. AH. This is American ale at its best.

Bright pink-orange. Yellowish, thick head, disappearing. Citrussy nose, noble hops. Very hoppy, lemony taste. Outspoken hopbitter. Slightly harsh finish going into resinous. Well bodied. Good carbonation, but CO2 can’t win from the hops. Aftertaste are hops, resinous again. Very IPA. Mind you, it could grow on me.

Nut brown. Dry and nicely malty. Gentle and soft with notes of burnt sugar and a pleasant mild finish.

From Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA. Pours a dark gold/amber color with a medium thin light beige head. Aroma is lightly hoppy and citrusy. The flavor is decent but not really breaking new ground. Floral hops, citrus and a little malt. I did like the finish, which was nicely nutty throughout. Beyond that though this is middle of the road stuff.

From Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA. Not a bad IPA at all. Pours a murky golden amber color with a thick off-white head. The foamy head lasted quite a while. Nice lacing as well. Floral hops aroma. Flavor is very citrusy, and the hops are really not as bold as the glass progresses. Nicely bitter finish. Doesn't have the "snap you with a wet towel" hops that the great IPAs have but otherwise this beer is just fine.
