Description
The New Old Lompoc opened on May 6th, 2000. But the Old Lompoc Brewery (as it was formerly know) has been producing handcrafted ales and lagers since December 1996, while the tavern has been open since 1993.

The name originally came from the movie ‘The Bank Dick’ starring W.C. Fields and Mae West. Most of the movie took place in the ‘Old Lompoc House’, which was the local watering hole as well as a boarding house.

Our food menu is an excellent array of Northwest pub fare with a great selection of entrees, soups and salads. We have also remodeled the patio and added a sun deck.

Sampled as ’Lompoc Special Draft’ Deep dark brown coloured body with a touch of violet showing through at the bottom when held up to a light and a thin, one centimetre tall brown head. Aroma of soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked peat, malt, raisins, earth and a bunch of nuts - very nice. Medium-bodied; Smokey flavour at first is strong and very flavourful with a lot of malt, earthiness, nuts, raisins, pit fruits and even some rye and specialty grain flavour there as well. Aftertaste shows some good sweetness, a hit of alcohol and a little earthy flavour that does well. Overall, a nice beer with a good flavour profile, nice complexity and a relatively smooth finish with some good sugars. Great to sample and a good one to bring back to wherever you live - assuming you aren’t from the area. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$4.15 sampled at home in Washington on 31-August-2013.

On tap at Saraveza's 4th IIPA fest, pours a hazy bronze with a small off-white head. Aroma isn't that strong, with faint notes of citrus hops - not much else. Flavour is equally bland, with some light fruits, some gentle resinous hops, and almost a lactic quality. Decent stuff - well-balanced. Just not very exciting.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours dark brown, with ruddy character against strong light. Slight tan head. Aroma of bourbon, prune and chocolate. Med body. Flavor is bourbon, oak, prune, chocolate. Seems to finish chocolate. There’s a moderate sour aspect from beginning to end. Heat’s not an issue. It’s really quite a drink.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Other than the hyperbole of an Atlantic run liner, the label is pretty spiffy. At least I hope so. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of chocolate and dark fruit. Med body. Flavor is chocolate and dark fruit. Not particularly getting heat, but my head is screaming: booze. Not overly sweet like some of the style. The chocolate diminishes and the finish is lightly sweet with raisins and dates. Quite drinkable. To bring in a movie quote: "69 is divine."

Draft at Hedge House in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Pours a light golden colour with a good white head. Light hop aroma with grainy notes. Flavour is quite light; some initial floral hop flavours and bitterness followed by some pretty weak malt notes. Not unpleasant, but a bit watery at the end.

Draft at Hedge House in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Orange colour with a white head. Spicy aroma with hints of cloves and coriander as well as some hops. Flavour had quite a lot of citrus hop bitterness balanced with the typical grainy Saison flavours.

Draft at Hedge House in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. Beautiful dark ruby colour with a nice light brown head. Dark sugar, bitter chocolate and a little dark roast coffee on the nose. Mouth feel was a bit disappointingly watery. Flavours were not as strong as the aroma led me to believe they would be, but still some nice burnt bitterness matched with dried fruits.

Draft at Hedge House in Portland, OR on 4 June 2013. A new brew according to the bar tender. Light amber colour with good clarity and a persistent white head. Wonderful citrus hoppy nose. Grapefruit bitterness is offset with sweet dried fruit notes for a very balanced beer.
