Description
The New Old Lompoc opened on May 6th, 2000. But the Old Lompoc Brewery (as it was formerly know) has been producing handcrafted ales and lagers since December 1996, while the tavern has been open since 1993.
The name originally came from the movie ‘The Bank Dick’ starring W.C. Fields and Mae West. Most of the movie took place in the ‘Old Lompoc House’, which was the local watering hole as well as a boarding house.
Our food menu is an excellent array of Northwest pub fare with a great selection of entrees, soups and salads. We have also remodeled the patio and added a sun deck.

Bottle from New Seasons Market. Dark amber, small foamy head. Big meaty malty aroma. Taste too goes straight for the malts, huge leathery, musty pipe tobacco. Dry, gentle bitterness finishes this.

On tap at Belmont Station, Portland, Oregon. The colour is slightly hazy dark brown with a creamy compact beige head. Roasted aroma of nuts, chocolate, rye bread and subtle coffee and smoke. Nicely roasted flavour as well with smoke, ash, dark chocolate, coffee and rye bread. Has a soft mouth feel, medium body and a light to medium bitterness. A smooth ale with a nice touch of smoke. Well balanced.

Draft @ PDX Taproom, Shibuya. Pours pitch-black, brown foam on top. Nice sweet, lightly lactic toasted aroma. Some blackberries, also dried dark plums. Tastes smooth and creamy, sweet and with very light roast character. Finish gets dry, somewhat sweetish-fruity dryness there. Feels like a decent Baltic Porter, would meet most of the style guidelines I think. Well made and throughly enjoyable. Feels fresh.

Tap sold by Yellow Ape at the Beer Zen Event. It has an opaque copper color with a light beige head and the aroma is of old hops (past it’s best , ie a bit stale/oxidized). The flavor is sweet caramel and pine with some woodsy fruit. Meh, ok I guess. Ijust wish the importer treated the beer better... I love the name and concept though.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma of malt, rye, wood. Med body. Flavor is very rye, wood, malt that seems a bit oxidized (which I like), and something suggesting heat. A whiskey aspect. The label says 5.6 and the web agrees, but ... Might be a hint of chocolate. I am wondering if the beer brewed up at 5.6, but the Angels’ Share and the barrels may have upped the ABV. It is quite alcohol per my mouth and throat. This was bottled in Feb 2016 and it’s good. Another indicator of ABV strength? As we go into the finish, it’s wood, heat, rye. Hop? I think so, but the whiskey aspect is strong enough to prevent me from figuring out hop. It’s not the best rye aged beer I’ve ever had, but it’s a pretty tasty one. Recommended for fun and flavor.
