Description
Mark, Sam and Olly Brooking brew the beer and the brewery is now run by Sam, keeping the business firmly in the family. Originally known as Sutton Brewing, South Hams Brewery moved to its present site overlooking the glorious Start Bay in 2003, with a 10-barrel plant and plenty of room and ambition to expand. We brew beers that like to travel and the full range of beers can be found and enjoyed in Devon and throughout the country, all created with the SHB seal of quality and craftsmanship.

South Hams Brewery has a real love for real ale. The good stuff! Honest, traditional brewing with passion, delivering consistently high quality real ales - what the punters wan With long standing classics, such as Eddystone and Devon Pride, and also producing several seasonal ales for the changing climate and palates - all brewed to the exacting SHB brewing quality standard. We'd love to introduce you to the small brewery that's very BIG on taste, and discover a range of ales that fully deliver on flavour and have proven to be extremely popular with pubs and restaurants alike.

On cask at Curfew, Berwick-on-Tweed - Clear amber body, great lacing head. Lots of caramel, sweet toffee malts, slightly drying finish, but a really fresh tasting ESB.

Handpull cask at the Pharmacie Arms, Syston. Dark, almost brownish gold, takes ages and does not quite settle. Full creamy beige head. Fruity, malty, slightly buttery aroma. Bittersweet taste with big bittering hops shoving aside the fruit and malt flavours. Notes of kumquat, apple. Finish is quite bitter. Medium texture with soft carbonation. Didn't like it much at first but I got used to and even sort of liked it. In a way.
