Description
Potbelly Brewery is a 10 Barrel (2888 pints) Micro Brewery based in Kettering, Northamptonshire and commenced brewing in February 2005! Quality Real Ales!
Potbelly Brewery was started 2005 in a leather goods factory in the heart of Kettering. As the demand for UK produced belts and handbags was declining the owners (Glenn Morris and Toni Hooper) decided to diversify and turn their passion for beer into a full-time job. Equipment was sourced and manufactured to build a 10 barrel microbrewery in the corner of the factory. With the building of the fermenting room, the conditioning room, and an additional two cold stores, this took over more and more of the building. As the factory, and staff reduced further, the brewery eventually took over completely.
10 years after the first commercial brew, the original founders wanted to take life a little easier, and their brewer lan Loasby, and colleague Greg Johnson decided to take over the reins. Still brewing the original beers, several new ones have been added to the repertoire.
Things have changed greatly in the last 12 years; a great a many pubs and clubs have sadly shut, and many more micro breweries have been born. With the trend going towards micro pubs, and real craft ale bars, the interest in beers has increased dramatically. This has led to some strange non-conformist brews but whilst we embrace change, we have decided to stick to more traditional, and consistent methods, hops water yeast and occasionally real fruit.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Gold, lasting off white head. Some honey herb to this. Quite good hop on finish, touch of biscuit on finish. Rather likeable if just a touch too full/touch of puke.

(Cask at Southampton Arms) Even this is quite mild beer there was alcohol notes in the aroma. in addition to malts and bitterness there were light citric notes in the taste. Perhaps this was a bit too unbalanced for this kind of beer.

Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Golden in colour. Fruity and hoppy aroma with a hint of apricot. The taste is nicely balanced, but is nothing special. Notes of malt, apricot and dried fruit can be detected.

5th August 2010. GBBF.
Presented as โHedonismโ. Hazy gold beer, sudy white head. Light dry palate. Floral dryness dominates a little hop fruit in to submission. Overdry finish. How many times have I written that today about UK beers?

Gravity cask at the Pembury Tavern on 21st July 2010 during their summer festival. Copper with thin, part lacing white head. Caramel/molasses malt, slightly grassy hop with the latter in somewhat short supply. Touch of smoke and a hint of saltiness. Saline mouthfeel. When taken in large quantities, I noticed a slight chemical note popping up, which didnโt appear if taking small sips.
