Description
It had always been an ambition of Tom Minshull to start a brewery, having been involved a while back with Burt's Brewery due to its links with his company, Island Ales. Tom was only prepared to start this venture when the time was right and only if it was done properly and with attention to detail and above all, to be able to produce a first class product.
When Chris Coleman agreed to come on board as the brewer, the ability to produce a first class product was in place. Chris brings a wealth of experience, expertise and respect, which has been gained over many years as a brewer of some distinction.
Following extensive research and site visits to mainland breweries by Steve Minshull and Chris Coleman it was decided not to use second hand equipment but to use a company called Johnson Engineering, a company specialising in brewery manufacture based in Bolton, Lancashire, to make for us a brewery to our specifications.

Cask at the Fat Cat, Sheffield on 6th March 2026. Clear gold with shallow whitish foam and full lacing. Grassy hoppiness in aroma. Bitter and grassy in-mouth with hints of hidden berry fruits. A dry, grassy bitter finish. Light bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#80. Another local with a shoreline setting for this one at basecamp. Easy enough going traditional tasting ale, some hoppiness within a pale ale texture and taste. Bought at Harvey's in Yarmouth.

5th October 2024
Near clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, light and mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, traces of caramel and cream. Ripe fruits and dried fruits. There is a pleasant touch of Brambling Cross dark berry fruits under the usual Christmas spice assault. Soft smooth cinnamon dominates, pinch of nutmeg maybe. Light and semi dry finish. Yes, it over done Christmas nonsense season once again, this one, I reckon, will taste better than most.

Almost clear deep gold - amber beer, small but tidy off white head. Light palate, a very mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a little cream and a little caramel. Mild pine into mellow but juicy ripeish orange hops. Light finish. Old skool mellow ale done well.

Clear gold beer, small off white head. Palate is light, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, slightly thin, a thin creamy sweetness, touch of grain, really nothing to be concerned. Light marmalade hops, a little crisp pine. Light and semi dry finish. Tidy if fairly old skool affair.

2nd October 2024 Bottle in Brighstone, IOW. Just a light haze on this orange - amber beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, a smooth and very slightly honeyed sweetness. Good orangey hops, rich, a little marmalade, tastes like a lot of Goldings were used. A light cooling pine on the light finish. Old school, as are many of the IOW beers I have tasted in the IOW, but done right and they taste a helluva lot better than past experiences with shitty Camera cask. Not that cask is shitty per se, great cask is a complete joy, but gimme a good bottle or keg (or indeed keykeg) over flaccid tired cask anyday!
