Description
Open since 2000, Moat Mountain Smoke House is a 174-seat brewpub, restaurant, and inn located in one of North Conway's most historic buildings. In addition to our flagship location, we recently restored the Limmer Barn in Intervale, NH, opening the Moat Mountain Brewing Company Brewery Barn and Cannery in 2013.
Our speciality craft beers are distributed across Maine, Massachusetts, and of course, New Hampshire for everyone to enjoy in the majority of our New England home.

Our smokehouse prides itself on having a predominant in-house, scratch recipes sourced from local resources right here in North Conway.

Whether you're coming in to sit down with the family, or meeting some friends for beers and apps, you're welcomed at our brew pub to enjoy all ends of the spectrum of hospitality, great beers, and some amazing eats.

Draft. Pitch black appearance. Flavor has mild lasting bourbon, chocolate, mild roast, dark fruit, slight alcohol but doesn’t distract from the enjoyment. Nice barrel addition! Very nice.

From mes parents: pours orange gold with a white head. Aroma is piny, light citrus... not a huge aroma... little more than a month olde so for this style should be pretty fresh. Nice little juicy finish. Mellow for the style. OK.

Can pour into tulip glass from Fresh Market, Bedford NH. Appearance is cloudy, light brown/dark orange with decent sparkle at the edge of the glass, finger-plus width off-white foamy head with decent retention and tons of soapy lacing. Aroma is orange, tropical fruit, mild musty cardboard. Taste is sweet orange, tropical fruit, mild resin bitter for balance, herbs. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-lively texture, bittersweet finish as taste. Overall, a pleasantly sweet DIPA without going over the top. Fair complexity and balance. A keeper.

Draught at the brewery, 9/15/17.
Clear, light, peach-tinted amber-golden with a thin, off-white head of low retention.
Base malts secure a strong background with a bit of caramel and fruit suggestion from the specialty malts. Hops are light and provide only a touch of grass and herb character. No flaw or alcohol.
Soft, malty, well-attenuated and providing mostly honey and white bread-like character, tending slightly sourdough-like on the finish, with red fruit, dusty, herbal-like hop notes and, prickly at times, ample carbonation. Fine, unexciting, rather ubiquitous brewpub German lager. But the malting is taken up a notch from your typical pale lager.

Draught at the brewery, 9/15/17.
Mostly clear, light chill haze, soft blonde-golden with a small white head atop showing moderate to moderately-low retention.
Very soft yellow fruits in the nose mix with light grain; cereal, vanilla, honey and biscuit. Nectarine, melon, peach and even a pinch of juicy orange with no resin or flaw. It's certainly not bursting with juicy, tropical, lush hops a la mode, but it also isn't some garbage "2007 called, it wants its IPA back" mess.
Soft again in the mouth, fairlly malty though it's all pale malt and creates layers of honey and soft biscuit. Lightly fruity, lightly juicy hops show lime, melon, orange and a touch of peach-apricot. Fairly good attenuation and low, somewhat loose "brewpub" carbonation. If you're not going to make a NE IPA, do what they did here, instead of trying to jam as many PNW bittering hops in to the boil as you can.
