Description
Throwback Brewery is a small, inspired brewery dedicated to crafting delicious, farm-fresh beer & food from local ingredients. Our brewery and pub are located within a picturesque and meticulously renovated 1860s post & beam barn in North Hampton, NH. Our 12-acre farm- Hobbs Farm- includes a hop yard, young fruit orchard, kitchen & brewery garden, heirloom chickens, and a beer garden overlooking the field.
Given the greenery and peaceful setting of the farm, you would never know that we are conveniently located right off of Route 1 and less than three and a half miles from the beach!
Since we got started in a small warehouse space in July of 2011, our vision at Throwback has been and continues to be all about crafting beer from ingredients grown within 200 miles of us. With the opening of our restaurant in July of 2015 and the move to Hobbs Farm, we have committed to these same sourcing philosophies and love & care in crafting our food as we do our beer.
In our kitchen, everything is made from scratch using the freshest of local ingredients from surrounding farms and New England businesses. For example, the eggs in our Fried Eggs BLTs come from our farm, and all the bread is made from scratch in our kitchen using spent grain from our brewing process. We are proud to serve such fresh and tasty food (and beer!) to our family, friends, and to you, our great customers.
Cheers

5 oz. Draft. Aroma is soft, pineapple and medium grain. Flavor follows. Texture is a bit on the grainy side. Very soft herbal bitterness. Leans a little more on the West Coast side of IPA rather than New England.

5 oz. Draft. Aroma is all lemon. Flavor is puckering lemon that transitions into soft vanilla. Make no mistake, this has bold puckering lemon after the sip. 3.6

Can drunk 11/20/22. Dark cola-ebony with a large, tan head showing great retention. Big cocoa, brown sugar, maple and coffee with, importantly, tons of base malt and not overdone on the black malt and unroasted barley. Smells like a good beer, not a guinness. No alcohol or flaw. Soft, malty, not thin or watery. Definitely a stout, not a dry stout. Chewy with caramel, brown sugar, burnt raisins and dark chocolate. Pretty assertive for its size with licorice and roasted bitterness lingering. Great balance with good malt sweetness yet plentiful acidity. Just an all-around solid american stout that you rarely see any more. Also quite impressed with Throwback's canning line; these beers are flawless.

Undated can, fresh from brewery, drunk 11/20/22. Heavily hazy, peach-blonde-maize-golden. Small, white head, moderate retention. Peachy, spicy, moderately juicy nose with no aggressiveness nor any big ester. Soft, white bread and biscuit malts with no alcohol and very little pine. Seems like Cashmere done right. Freshly picked grapefruit rind with white grapefruit juice, creamy-honey-and-white bread malts, just sweet enough but still well-attenuated, with no resin, pine, scallion or anything unwanted. This is a juicy, citrusy, spicy, balanced DIPA without too much malt, bitterness, ester or alcohol, but yet still amply bitter. Lovely. Seems a notch above a lot of their other stuff.

Brewery draught, 11/20/22. Clear, brassy blonde, medium sized white head quickly to ring. Fruity yeast and hop sweatiness with light orange and mild pine. Clean and malty, seemingly quite dry. Fruity, dry, malty, clean, pine-and-citrus. Ample bitterness. Prototypical APA.

Brewery draught, 11/20/22. Lightly hazy, dark amber-umber. Small, beige head, low retention. Fruity, chocolatey and clean with what seems to be an authentic yeast character (mineral and fruits seem on point). Dry, malty, a bit of graininess with caramel and raisin and moderate finishing bitterness. Cherry, plum, caramel...

Brewery draught, 11/13/22. Undetermined clarity, dark mahogany. Light tan head slowly to ring. Lots of ash, char, light salt and a good deal of oxidation. Can get a bit of cherry from it and there's lots of vanilla and spice. Not much in the way of sweet malt, but it's not boozey, so that's not necessary. Soft, malty, but incredibly highly attenuated, to the point that it's just too dry, roasty, ashen and bitter. Oxidation, moderate barrel character with a pleasant, fruity cherry character.

Brewery draught, 11/13/22. Moderately hazy, blonde-brass-golden, small, white head. Fruity, juicy, yeasty nose, clean, no resin or alcohol with moderate malt sweetness (honey, cookie). Soft, fruity, malty, well-attenuated. Moderate juiciness, quite low bitterness. Straightforward, low-bitterness, yeasty example with moderate hop character. Not memorable, but very competent.

Brewery draught, 11/13/22. Lightly hazy brass-blonde, small, off-white head. Big pepper, banana, vanilla and light wax. Weird, like these Jovaru beers are. Low hop, very fruity, no booze. Soft, malty, dry, very fruity and spicy. Not too far from a typical saison though here there's more banana and clove-like character than I'd prefer. Good maltiness.
