On tap at the brewery in PDX. Pours a clear copper color with a medium whtie head. A light yeasty nose, some toast and light caramel. The flavor is pretty balanced with floral hops, low bitterness, some toasted malts, maybe some tea, dry yeast. Good. Easygoing.
On tap in PDX at the brewery. Pours a clear yellow color with a large white head. A rich lemon nose, floral at times. The flavor is bitter, not too much of a malt base, lemon zest especially, light tropical fruit, some grainy and meaty flavors. Good.
Glass at the brewery. Pours a bright copper color with a small white head. The aroma is intense, fruity, big sweet sugary malts, light heat. The flavor is more brown sugar, big sweet malts, intense fruity hops, medium bitterness, resin, hot, green at times, big balanced malty base. Quite like a barley wine. Very good. This will get solid ratings if people try it.
Rich brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head showing some nice off-white lacing. Aroma of bright fresh hops, light earth and a bunch of caramelised sugars. Medium-bodied; Nice rich caramel maltiness with hints of earth and mellow hop flavours with a crisp pine and light spruce spiciness. Aftertaste showing a good complexity with a great balance of hops, malt and spice. Overall, a nice beer for the season and to be honest - one that can be sampled at anytime! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods (Pearl) in Portland, Oregon on 06-December-2013 for US$4.99 sampled in my hotel room in Portland on 06-December-2013.
Bottle - Big pine notes with a touch of resin and sweet grapefruit. Pale gold with a frothy white head. Grapefruit and tropical fruit with a well balanced bitterness. Fresh and crisp as advertised.
Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver Hazy golden color with medium sized head. Very nice hop aroma: sweaty and animal hops, grapefruit, other citrus fruits. Lean and dry mouthfeel; nice malts with a cereals, toffee and biscuity accent; strong bitterness, with aggressive quality hops, more resiny than fruity, some pink grapefruit bitterness. Excellent and fresh.
On tap. Pours a dark brown with moderate white head. Aromas of roasted barley and plastic. Flavors of nuts, toast, roasted malts, and light resin. But not very impressive.
On tap at The Beer Mongers, pours a hazy golden with a creamy beige head. Aroma brings out beautiful pungent piney hops, some resin, a bit of floral, and a solid malt backbone - smells wonderful. Flavour is impeccably well-balanced, with notes of creamy pine, resinous hops, a touch of candied sugar, and a solid caramel malt backbone. Man is this superbly crafted. So highly drinkable, without any jagged edges. Fantastic stuff.
Bomber. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium tan head. A sweet nose of toffee, some raisins and fruit. Medium spices, especially clove, banana, some bitterness, citrus, cocoa, dark bitter chocolates. An interesting brew. Caramel, more bitterness. Pretty smooth and tasty.
Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver Muddy deep blond color with creamy head. The aroma is mild, both fruity and feety. Good body structure, with light sourness and apricot touch; moderate sweetness, correct bitterness. Not bad.
