Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear light yellow golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is yeasty, woody hops. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a smooth, yeasty, gluey, big woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Fra cask på GBBF aug-23, delt med Steven: klar gylden med fint skum som varer. Lys malt, furunål og krydderurter. Tørr, bitter og kjedelig avslutning. Men så nærmer det seg også avslutningen for oss.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. A light haze on this pale gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and fairly dry, modest fine carbonation. Sweet pale malts. Floral hops, some sweetish ripe orange underneath. Very mild spice. Dry finish. Quirky but dry.

Clear chestnut brown with a frothy tan head and berries on the nose, with a bit of earthy malt. Smooth and silky, sweet and fruity, some nutty malt with just a hint of dry, tart bitterness in the finish

Cask at Lych Gate Tavern, Wolverhampton. Pours a dark copper with a small cream head and good lacing. The aroma has plums and malts in it. Much the same in the mouth, where plums are joined by other summer fruits with traces of hops, ginger and general bitterness. Overall it is sweet and creamy. Finish is malts again. Bit of a strange one to classify, as it has many characteristics of an ESB – just not the bitterness. Anyway, it’s great !

Cask at Imperial, Worcester. Pours a hazy golden amber with minimal white head. There’s a vaguely antiseptic aroma – but it’s a pleasant one ! In the mouth it is sweet and uicy with summer fruits to the fore. After a while traditional hops start to assert themselves, plus pine, grains and a hint of malts. Finish is slightly bitter. This is a reasonable beer – though I would class it more as a “hoppy golden ale” than a straight IPA.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a dark mahogany with a medium cream / tan head. Roast malts and caramel in the aroma plus hints of chocolate. Liquorice is the most prominent flavour in the mouth, together with malts and parkin. There’s a distinct smokiness to the whole caboodle as well. Later on there are traces of dark fruits and the finish is quite bitter. This is quite nice.
