Cask @ The Bear, Stratford-Upon-Avon. Pours a generally clear dark brown, small tan head. Aroma of nothing in particular. Taste is exceedingly mild, little expected caramel sweetness, almost watery, dry, some mirage-like nutty malts. Never destined to be the beer of the day.

Handpull cask at the Sir William Peel, Sandy. Light brown or dark Amber, flat and clear. Sulphur and forest floor in the aroma, so not going to be my kind of beer. Bittersweet taste works much better, and is actually quite pleasant, with a woody tang near the finish. More sulphur in the aftertaste though, so ugh. And it’s not helped by being flat as a pancake. It’s pretty decent for what it is, but just not my sort of thing.

Transparent dark color with no head. No layer either. Anyway a fine intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a soft carbonation level. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Mellow dark malt, caramel and roast in the flavor. Decent easy drinkable mild.

[ As Kendrick’s Porter ].Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt, earthy. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, dark malt, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20151008] 6-2-6-3-12
