Bottle 750ml. @ [ Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2015 (TEODRBSG15) ] - fonefan & Brugmansia House, Denmark. [ As Mystic Flor Sauvage ].Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, moderate yeasty, grapes, apple, funky, leather notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic with a average to long duration, tart, funky, yeast, grapes - apples. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150829]

Bottle. Nose is floral, light funk, yeast. Taste is floral, honey, the pilsner note is pronounced, leading to a floral note. There is some spice and floral notes, very faint funk drowned out by the honey and floral tones, some coriander in the dry finish. It’s too floral for me, and is a very ordinary beer. It’s my second Mystic river after the the transcendent table beer, and is a real let down.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus @ Drebus’ birthday tasting. Opaque murky dark brown color, average sized beige head. Aroma is malts, brown sugar, dark fruits. Taste malts, dark fruits, brown sugar, pretty sweet. If this was brewed in The Netherlands or Belgium I think this would have gone into the Belgian Strong Ale category instead of Quadrupel. Medium body, decent carbonation.

Bottle @ benzai. Dark amber to brown colour with a medium sized off-white head. Smells sweet, raisins, not a lot of smell. Tastes very sweet, raisins, wiebertjes, applesyrup, more raisins,brown sugar. Full body, nice carbo. Doesn?t taste like I?m somewhat used to from a barley wine or quadruple.

500 ml shared by Willrunforbeer. The aroma is really enjoyable. Roasted grain, caramel candies, Toasted oats, melted chocolate and ale yeast. I know this a Porter with an ABV at 7.5 but it really drinks reminiscent of a stout. The oats really give the texture a much needed boost. Some sugar gives a slight fullness.The darkened barley gives a lingering note throughout. It also displays some much needed bitterness to cut the sweetness. Earthy bitterness comes out more as it warms. Honestly for the Porter classification, this is done really well.

Wish I knew the backstory on what went amiss with this batch (the commerical description alludes to something screwy happening). Anyhow, it pours a copper-amber with plentiful off-white head and good carbonation and clarity.
The nose divulges a good deal of spice, though it isn’t perfumey/floral so much as nutty and earthy (hibiscus). Peppery, as well, with some bready malts, bits of caramel and dough interspersed and no alcohol nor flaw. Yep, smells like a gruit. The yeast is lovely, with some cellar mustiness and minerality apparent.
Wet, large bubbled texture is rather nutty, with hints of lavender-like floral notes with a strong earthiness, plentiful pepper and the hard-to-describe hibiscus notes. Sweet, but not overly so, with caramel and honey and lots of breadiness. A good gruit and nicely attenuated and balanced. Quite clean and with no alcohol noted. I guess the spices/herbs sort of break up the consistency/texture, but I would like a bit tighter carbonation and more supple texture.

Lightly hazy bright peachy-golden with deep copper tints and a large white head that fades to cover.
I had three pints of this and the first one I drank before reading about the beer. Definitely went to Mystic’s website to ascertain whether or not this was brewed with citrus fruits added. It’s not, but suffice to say, it’s VERY citrusy. In about the best way possible, thankfully, with no grapefruit or bitter/astringent rind character but rather juicy tangerine pulp, meyer lemon and fresh juice oranges. Kind of tastes similar to a mimosa, with the sparkling zippy carbonation somewhat mirroring a champagne. Attenuation is high, leaving only light bread dough, sponge cake and light honey notes from the malt side of things. The nose is delightful, however, despite being fully citrus hops. Goes down very nicely, with the bready malts soaking up the citrus and balancing the bitterness. Not intensely saison-like, but I happen to love Sorachi Ace and even though they kind of dominate this thing, I found it extremely quenching and drinkable. If your’re going to go American Saison, then something like this is FAR superior to the bitter, grapefruit and resin-hopped versions that seem to be the norm.

Pours yellowish orange with a small head. Aroma of grassy hops, earthy notes, spices, hints of yeast and hay. Taste is grassy, earthy and slightly spicy with hints of hay and floral notes. Finish is smooth, grassy and slightly earthy with hints of spices. Okay.

Bottle. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is malt, light roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, dark fruit, yeast and spices. Flavour is roasted malt, caramel, spices, dark fruit, little chocolate, medium sweet, little liquorice, hop and a little bitter.
