Description
One of the first independent breweries in the Los Angeles area founded by Richard Marcello and Joel Elliott. Strand specializes in premium handcrafted ales and prides itself as a pillar of the craft community in South Bay. Strand brews its handcrafted beer in small batches, and beer fans appreciate the time and energy that goes into the beverages. The first working production brewery in the city of Torrance, Strand now brews a range of different beers. Their larger facility also boasts a spacious taproom, which has helped grow Strand’s local customer base.

500ml bottle [7.5% abv]. Jet black colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Slightly roasty dark malty aroma with nuttily notes, a herbal touch, cautious hints of blueberry, a touch of liquorice. Taste is initially slightly dry, roasty dark malty, subtle sweetness, hints of blueberry, later more intense roasty with a nuttily touch, some liquorice, bone-dry finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Huntington Beach, CA. Pours Pours dark copper with a slight off-white head. Aroma is malt and hop. Strong aroma. Betting on pine for hop. Med + body. Flavor is rather roasty malt with lots of hop. I think the Simcoe is contributing pine, but there’s plenty of citrus. So it’s finishing malty, citrus and bitter. Something to test the taster.
