Handpull cask at the Vaults, Ruabon. Mid-gold, clear with a swirl of off-white head and lots of lacing. Fresh aroma, some lime, berries. Not getting the Simcoe but it's good all the same. Bittersweet taste, more berry, slightly astringent inches bitter finish. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Surprisingly good.

500ml bottle, a mild gusher on opening. Pours almost black with a huge frothy beige head, good retention after it settled. Aroma of chocolate and roast malts, mild coffee, bit of dark fruit. Taste has more of the roast malt and coffee notes, light burnt note, chocolate, dark fruit and liquorice hints, ashy roasty bitterness. Light-medium bodied.

Cardiff Mini-break Beer#45. Last one in Cardiff. Clear golden with a glow, but a bit of a drab cask ale. It has an easy enough texture, but there's not much to said about its bitter-sweet notes.
