Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 04/05/10. Deep copper in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel and powdered chocolate aroma. Flavour was more of the same with a short, bitter finish. Ok.

(bottle) Hazy, dark amber colour with a short off-white foamy head. Toast-malty and slightly sour fruity (citrus, apricots) aroma with woody and zesty hops. Mildly bitter and slightly sour flavour, light but not watery bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderately toasted malty and fruity taste with a dry palate; slightly bitter and minimal sour fruity finish with an aromatic hoppy blend. 11.XI.09

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. A hazy copper affair with a thin off white head. Sweet malts, brown sugar and a hint of spice in the nose. Largely uninspiring flavour. Malty and slightly spicy yet again, with some background fruit notes. A little on the watery side. Gently lingering bitter finish. Pretty forgettable on the whole, but ok as a guzzler with some spicy food.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 21/02/10. Amber with a slight white head. Aroma of cereal malts, with a hint of sweetness. Flavour of bready malts, with a touch of fruit and decent, bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle (thanks to Stefan!): Hazy, amber coloured, small persistent off-white head; moderate malty-hoppy nose with a tinge of liquorice and toasted malt; sweetish-sourish and also bitter flavour; light to medium bodied; lingering sweetish-bitter finish with a tinge of smoked peat(!). Good welsh quality......

Bottle 50cl.Clear light to medium amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, peat - smoke - rubber. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is light medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090724]

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Clear amber golden with an off-white head. Distinct smoke aroma in the nose. Light body, sweet caramel, Bamberg smoke and ashes. Was this really how it was intended? 240709

on tap at the brewery’s pub Kings Arms Abergavenny. Deep brown colour with a small creamy head. Very malty with some honey and caramel, roasted malt and chocolate. Lingering malty-sweet finish with a nice touch of bitter hops.

on tap at the brewery’s pub Kings Arms Abergavenny. Deep copper colour with a very small head. Hoppy nose. Dry mouthfeel with flavours of caramel and chocolate, also some malt and roasetd malt. Rather hoppy and quite light-bodied. By far not as fruity as Blorenge, in my opinion.

on tap at the brewery’s pub King’s Arms Abergavenny. Deep golden yellow colour with a tiny head. Malty-fruity nose. Lots of malt with a nice citrusy character and a lingering hoppy finish that adds further fruity flavours.
