Bath Ales
Commercial Brewery
in Bristol,
Bristol,
England 🏴
Owned by
St. Austell Brewery
Associated Venue: Graze Bar, Brewery & Chophouse (Bath Ales)
Established in 1995
Moved to Siston Lane, Bristol in the summer of 1999.
Having outgrown these premises a further relocation to their current site at Units 3-7 Caxton Industrial Estate, Crown Way, Warmley, Bristol was carried out during March 2004.
A 50 barrel brewplant is used. A small on-site brewery was installed at their new (2013) Graze pub in Bath and was used to brew Platform 3 beer (originally 5.7%, latterly 4.5%) and the occasional special.
The beers branded as Beerd were from a small-batch plant within the main brewery at Warmley.
Mid 2016 brewery bought out by St. Austell brewery, with the inevitable cessation of the Beerd brand and the brew plant in Bath.
Production of Bath Ales cask range has been reduced to just Gem, with the spare capacity used by St. Austell for overflow production of Tribute and other St. Austell beers.
Since late 2025 Bath Ales became just a brand of St. Austell

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark chocolate, black rye bread, a touch of liquorice and ashes. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, roasted malt, dark bread, chocolate and a balanced roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced stout. Nice one.

500ml bottle. Clear golden amber, small white head. Aroma of sweet bready malts, caramel, and...no hops!? Taste is grapefruit, resin, bready malts, decent bitterness. Light-medium body. It's ok I suppose, typical trad brewer having a go at a modern style and not really getting it, I mean, no hops in the aroma?

Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival 2019. Cask @ Paramount, Manchester. Golden with a creamy head. It’s a hoppy ale with a soapy-malty texture and taste with malts in its aroma.

Pours a deep brown, near black, with a foamy beige head and a rich, roasted malt aroma, with hints of chocolate and dark fruits. The mouthfeel is smooth, but on the thin side, and the flavour is predominately roasted malt, with some chocolate and dark fruits coming through, and a hint of coffee, alongside a nice, dry bitterness that lasts into the finish

Bottle from local Tesco Aroma is a mix of malt and herbs. Pours a golden yellow with a respectable white head. Hoppy bitterness is the first thing that hits in the mouth, though the underlying malty sweetness later takes over. Some marmalade, pines cones and various grains as well. A dry and bitter finish. Calls itself a “west coast IPA” vand it is definitely more of an IPA than an American Pale. Very nice anyway.

Keg at Cosy Club, Portsmouth. Aroma of dark coffee and berries. Dark. Foamy beige head. Light-medium sour berries with underlying but feint coffee bitterness. Touches on sour milk. Light-medium bodied. thin creaminesss. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. It's fine but no depth to it.
