(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Viking Line Gabriella, 20111114) The beer poured almost black and it was clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had roasted malts, chocolate and ash. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, burnt malts, grass, coffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was dry and had roasted malts and bitterness. Nice and tasty stout despite the low ABV - a bit thin.

Tasted in vertical with Bath Dark Side, this was worse
Looks a lot like cola drink with big-bubbled and disappearing head. Slightly sour aroma has toffee, goldings-like hops, coffee, some roastiness. Palate is too thin and a bit watery. Flavour is rather light with coffee, harsh roastiness and hints of toffee with goldings. Unlike Dark Side, this was too watery and light.

Tasted in vertical with Bath Dark Hare, this was better
Dark ruby red colour with disappearing, big-bubbled head. Aroma is stale, grainy and floury with some toffee, goldings and coffee. Smooth and creamy palate. Flavour has coffee, roastiness, goldings-like toffee and some smoke. Unlike Dark Hare, this was smooth and rather rich for a 4% ABV beer.

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed 21.10.11 This bottle purchased at My Favourite Beers shop, Cheltenham May 2011 Pours dark amber with a medium carbonatiomn, the head is light beige. This is soft in the mouth, though there is some alcohol showing which is a little too up front and showy for my liking. Quite dry throughout with caramel and dark fruits also making there mark. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

(On tap) Dark chocolate brown with good beige head. Aroma of black treacle, mollasses or dark toffee. Medium body with light carbonation. Flavour owes a lot to black treacle without being sweet. Overall a nice dark beer.

Bottle 50 cL. Pours dark amber with small non-lasting white head. Aroma is very malty with hints of banana and chocolate. Taste is dry and bitter with medium bodied palate dominated by a lively carbonation.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2011, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, hay, pale malt, toffee, butter, light to light moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long to average duration, toffee, grass, butter - toffee notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110804]

En ESB-liknande eller som själva kallar den Premium amber ale. Massor av karamellkaraktär men tillräcklig humlebeska för att skapa bra balans. Både godissöt och torr, stram humle skapar sensationer i munnen. Välbalanserad. Mycket lyckad.
