Cask-conditioned, at the Lime Kiln, Bristol, 2/10/2017. Amber in colour, with a tight, off-white, head. Aroma of hedgerow fruit, leafy hops and a hint of caramel. Flavour had more fruit, some crisp, yet chewy malts, a hint of toastiness and citrus sweetness, before a lingering, bitter, finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle shared in Hackney. Thanks to Cloin I believe! Pours a rather fetching clear copper with a frothy, off-white crown. Musty leaves dominate the aroma, with accents of damp carpet and toasted grains. Light sweet flavour with some forward English yeast, burnt caramel, assertive bitter leaves, earth, old leather. Light bodied, somewhat oily, with fine carbonation. Finishes with more leafy and earthy hitterness, brown bread and toasted grains. Not the best, but certainly not the worst.

Bottle at Bodney Mansions, 31/08/17. Copper to amber with a decent off white cap that dissipates to a swirl atop. Nose is light fruit tang, biscuit, spice, brown bread, sour edge. Taste comprises brown bread, watery notes, thin flavours, biscuit, grains. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close. Weak and watery ... lowest ranked beer for me from this bunch,

Cask from the wood, halfpint, at the SPBW 1st National Woodfest, Castleford. Not in the festival programme. Deep golden colour, white head. Moderate aroma, some citrus. The medium dry flavour has a nice citrussy and zesty tang to it, on a background of "dusty" malts.

Handpull cask at the Albert, Hitchin. Light to mid-brown, with a smattering of whitish head, clear. A woody astringency is overlain by a nicely pungent blackberry note. Taste starts bittersweet with some fruity tannic notes, but turns bitter very quickly. Astringent without being in the least unpleasant, leading to a long and extremely bitter finish. Enough natural carbonation in the body to give it a nice lift. A very moreish cask bitter.
