Description
We are a Microbrewery based in the picturesque village of Bow Brickhill, near Woburn, on the Buckinghamshire / Bedfordshire border.

Head brewer, Ryan Horne, has always had a passion for real ales and craft beer and has devoted time and effort learning about traditional brewing techniques and perfecting recipes using only quality, natural ingredients.

Having gained these skills we decided to take the ‘goat by the horns’ and brew our efforts for a wider audience to enjoy. After much planning and hard work our 6 Barrel Brewery was installed in early March 2015 and brewing in Bow Brickhill finally commenced.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - dark brown to black and almost opaque. Slightly off-white head. Nose - was expecting wood smoke but this is more like smoked ham. Also, a little black fruit underneath. Taste - more of that black fruit but completed dominated by smoked ham or bacon. Palate - light bodied with a sweet middle and dry smokiness on the finish. Overall - a bit weird but quite enjoyable.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6

Bottle from the brewery. Appearance - deep brown with red chinks. Cream to tan head. Nose - plum, cinnamon and possibly nutmeg. Taste - wood spices dominate this time. Still some prunes or raisins. Palate - quite light bodied. Dry spicy and very slightly roasty finish. Overall - I think the amount of fruit and spices in this would work better with a stronger and more malty beer.
