Cask-conditioned at the Red Lion, Cricklade 27/8/2013. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Orange peel, grapefruit, fruit cake, spice and a hint of pine, with a dryish finish. Very good.

Craft Islington. Cask. Clear gold beer, tidy off white head. Palate is smooth and a little soft. Very fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly neutral malt. Mellow orange hops. Light marmalade and lemon. Finishes smooth. Mellow easy drinking.

Euston Tap. Cask. Almost clear gold beer, small white head. Palate is light, smooth and mildly crisp. Good condition. Mild airy malts. Nice fresh orangey citric hops, with lesser floral lemon and a touch of peach. Finishes light. Nice condition and a great citric buzz.

Cask at Red Squirrel. Surprised to read this is smoked, as I found no evidence of smoke when I was drinking it! Pours black with a thin head. Lots of good roasted notes, some woody character and chocolate. Roasted bitterness on the finish. A good stout, but not a good smoked.

One third pint, keg menu at the Hanging Bat. Opaque coal black body, spotty lacing. Dark fruity nose joined by cocoa hints. Red orange and earthy malty flavours. Roasted bitter ending. Semi-dry. Fine bodied, in fact, and good to drink (Edinburgh 08.08.2013).

Half from the cask menu at The Hanging Bat where it was served a bit too warm. Next to clear amber coloured. Faint lacing, naked surface. Citrus nose with grapefruit to the fore. Zesty taste of citrus added by wheat and caramel. Long-lived bittersweet finish. A well made IPA, fine bodied (Edinburgh 07.08.2013).

Cask at CBC. Amber-orange with bubbles. Caramel, earthy, grassy nose, peaches, grape. Nice subtle fruit. Earthy, grass and caramel flavor. Very dry, earthy, amber-ale-like. Peppery, bitter finish. Decent but not so exciting.

Cask at CBC Clerkenwell. Roasty, hoppy nose, coffee, citrus hop, some chocolate. Dark brown with orange tints and bubbles. Rosty flavor of coffee. A bit thin and light. Earthy, grassy, well bitter finish. Not so much of the IPA character, just a slightly hoppy dry stout. Not so special.

Keg at the Hanging Bat. Pours hazy yellow-gold with a thin white head. Big hop aromas, with a touch of malt sweetness. Flavour delivers and is well balanced. Good beer, but I could have sworn it was more a US pale ale.

Cask-conditioned at Beer’d, Bristol 11/8/2013. Slightly hazy gold with a frothy white head. Big, juicy, tropical fruit and mandarins, crisp, slightly dusty malts and a fruity, dry finish. Excellent.
