[33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy deep ruby red coloured pour, almost black, with a loose coffee coloured head; fruity aroma; oaty body tasting of red fruit and milk chocolate; and a very dry finish with traces of oats and leafy hops. A very pleasant stout.

Can, from Vintner Market. Pours cloudy lemon yellow with a small frothy off-white head that flops down fast, faint citrus aroma, adequate carbonation, mildly bitter citrusy taste with coriander flavor, thin smooth body, long finish. As said, easy to drink.

Can from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a large but transient frothy beige head. A lot of oats in the aroma plus some roasted malts. In the mouth it’s briefly sweet and smooth, before some sharpness kicks in. Roasted malts to the fore in the flavour along with chocolate, oats, blackberries and traces of lemon and pineapple. Finish is quite fruity. Decent if not wildly exciting.

Can from Seven Brothers, Salford. Blonde with a creamy-frothy head. Hoppy, mildly sweet, perhaps with a hint of strawberry. Easy in the palate.

Keg @ Seven Brothers Beer House, Salford. Reddish-pink with a thin head. Has a red-berry sourness, with the former light and the latter reasonably stated.

440ml can from Asda. Near black in colour, with a tight, off-white, head. Sweet milk chocolate and honey aroma, living up to its Crunchie bar billing. Complex flavour, with some rich chocolate character upfront, some vanilla oak, toasty malt, and a hint of almond, leading to a rich finish. Excellent.

Dark pink colour with no head. Tangy sweet and sour fruity flavour. Not far away from a fizzy Vimto.

330ml can - Pours a hazy yellow-gold colour with a small frothy white head. The aroma is fruity, zesty lime, tropical with some herbal notes. A fruity taste, tropical and citrus, lime, grainy malts and herbal flavours with a light dry and light bitterness in the finish.

Keg @ Seven Brothers Beerhouse, Liverpool. Has a good roasted malts character, coming across very chocolatey in both aroma and taste. Has a good body and is smooth tasting.
