Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy tan head that left no lacing. The aroma was cola, wood, anise and cherry. The flavor was toasty malts, dryish, woody and had hints of anise and cherry. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.

Bottle, 75cl, wine cork. An unclear, murky brown beer with a minimal sized beige head. Just a few bubbles actually. It’s heavily oxidized, with toffee, prunes and rye bread. Some alcohol and old leather too. It’s full-bodied, warming and rather flat on the palate. Rye bread, chocolate and prunes in the flavor, as well as a nice bitterness, alcohol and oxidation. Lasting finish. Feels more like an English Barley Wine than a Belgian Quad or similar. Nice, but too oxidized. Well, it’s six years old, it’s excused. 150619

Bottle, 75cl. Wine cork style, waxed, blue bottle. A hazy, brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick dark beige head. It’s quite oxidized, with some alcohol, a good dash of raisins and prunes, some roasted hints and dark chocolate and a touch of minty, piney hops. It’s full-bodied, lightly warming on the palate, and with a very soft carbonation. There’s oxidation in the flavor too, but it’s more integrated with the dried fruits and caramel. Some roasted, chocolatey hints and a little bitterness too. Not overly sweet in any way. Lasting warming, sweet finish with dried fruits and some dark malts. Really tasteful this one, a bit heavy on oxidation in the aroma, but it’s damn fine anyway, so tasteful and mellow. 150613

Bottle, 75cl. A black beer topped by a dense light tan head. The aroma is lightly oxidized, with caramel, dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Some prunes too. There’s cocoa, dark coffee, roasted malts, some dried fruits and a touch of alcohol in the mouth. It’s full-bodied, smooth, warming and soft on the palate, with a good bitterness. Lasting roasted, warming nad decentlyh bitter finish. Noth much of a Black IPA this one, at least not anymore, but it’s tasteful 150616

Bottle. An unclear, dark golden-orange beer with a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma is rather sweetish, with tropical fruits pine cones and resin. Some pale malts, almost bready, and with a hint of alcohol. It has a nice bitterness in the mouth, it’s quite sweet too, yet it feels dryish. Tropical fruits, resins, pine cones and some pale malts. Full body, quite low on carbonation and with a touch of warmth. Lasting finish. Quite nice this one, but a bit out of balance. 150610
