Bottle @ GABF 2013. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity sour tart aroma with weak yeasty hints. Fruity sour tart weak dusty chalky flavor. Has a fruity sour tart weak yeasty finish.

Bottle. Orange malt and orange peel/pine aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange toffee malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Very nice.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 9/2013. Pours moderately hazy orange copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, floral, light nuttiness, grass, and floral earthiness. Ok aromas with good complexity of malt notes with light hops; and decent strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, floral, grass, light nuttiness, light pine, and toasted earthiness. Light pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, floral, grass, light nuttiness, and toasted earthiness on the finish. Nice complexity of malt flavors with a fair amount of hop presence; with solid robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with fairly creamy, smooth, and crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this a pretty solid malty amber ale style. Good complexity and balance of malt notes with light hops; and smooth and crisp to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Bottle shared by Irishboy. Pour murky brown with no head. Aroma suggests sour mash with dark fruits and dark malt. Med body. No sour in the flavor. Flavor is lightly oxidized malt with darker fruit like raisin and dates. Tending to seem thinner with time. A beer that aged well. Very refined.

This rating is a combination of draft and 12 oz. bottle that I purchased @ Nikki’s Liquors, Providence, R.I. This is how you want a stout to look, pitch black with a tan head that laced on the way down. Nose is intense roasted barley, chocolate and a bit of charred malt. The flavor is very rich with layers of roasted malt and burnt barley. Experienced palates may think the body is a bit thin, well… maybe so. But for me the 9 % ABV is nowhere here and the light body gives this Imperial stout amazing drinkability. So amazing that I can drink this like it’s a 5 or 6 % alcohol brew. Bitterness is added by a light Warrior hop that complements the roasted malt real nice. A perfect dessert and can pair well with most lots of chocolate or vanilla dishes. Texture is creamy and smooth. Anybody who lives in New England will tell you this is the best Newport Storm has ever brewed. This brewery should make this a yearly winter offering.
