Cask-conditioned at the Crosshands, Fishponds, Bristol 28/10/07. Pale amber with a moderate white head that left rings down the glass. Touch of sweet malt aroma with some grassy hops. Flavour of biscuit malt before a hoppy finish. Unlike other raters, my beer was served in good condition.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 8 Aug 2007) Very dark brown, almost black colour with brief pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with dried fruit and chocolate. Slightly vinous with hints of port. Fruity, slightly roasted taste with notes of dried fruit (raisins, prunes), fruitcake and a long sweetish finish with lots of dried fruit and chocolate. Absolutely delicious and beautiful. My favourite at the festival this year.

Cask conditioned at Merton Beer Festival Sat 18th Feb. A very dark chocolatey rich old ale, very nice! slight head, a bit sticky, but most drinkable despite the strength.

Bottle. Very roasted. Clean sourish taste. In the borderland to Rauchbier. Not a typical porter. Lumpy sediments.
