Cask at GBBF 2014. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is earthy, bitter-sweet, apple, pear, citrus peel, hay and spice. The taste is oily, toast, spicy, hay, stone fruits, wood and hay with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body, low carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Fine.

Cask with Amarillo - Sweet dark sugars, earthy hops and a bit medicinal. Clear copper with a bubbly head. Earthy hops, biscuit and a light finish. Not much going on here.

Draft - Roast malts and light whiskey notes. Jet black with a light brown head. Sweet whiskey notes, oak and the roast is far in the background. Odd beer, roast in the nose but not in flavour.

Caged and corked 375mL bottle that was a workout to uncage and uncork pours with a deep dark mahogany colored body that supports a minute long dark tan head. The aroma offers up cherries, chocolate, black strap molasses, dark roasted malts, some burnt malts and a sliver of whiskey. The taste delivers similar notes with a bit of cherry like fruity esters, chocolate, molasses and some light spicy black licorice. It has an upwelling of mild whiskey notes and a bit of toffee to midway. 10%? The alcohol is pretty well hidden here. Nice sipper.

Poured up at Flanny’s Arizona on Tap Festival with a deep dark mahogany body that has coppery amber like edges and supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts mixed with malt sweetness and a touch of vanilla and caramel. The taste has dark roasted malts, a thin river of burnt malts and then sweeter notes coming from both straight up maltiness and caramel malts. Well beneath these notes is a touch of vanilla that’s banging around in the background. Pretty nice stuff.
