Hand-pulled half-pint in The Shrewsbury Hotel (a Shrewsbury Wetherspoons) on 25th October 2021. I didn't get any smokiness in this ruby coloured beer, decent smooth white head. Plenty of malty molasses within the brew though. I had this beside a Black sheep Monty Python's Dead Parrot and a Bath Queen of Hearts, they all were very similar taste wise.

Gravity cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with minimal head. Aromas of toffee, treacle and a slight smokiness. In the mouth the texture is rather watery. Flavour is malts and toffee on a caramel base, with some smokiness coming through later. Disappointing.

Yet another beer that I have been drinking for years, but haven’t got round to rating before. Including one well remembered occasion in the Westminster Arms, WC1. Anyway, cask in the White Swan, Littleover – where it was the only non GK cask beer. Pours a dark copper with a small off-white head and good lacing. A stuffy aroma of malt and nuts, with a hint of cherries. In the mouth the initial impression is of sweet maltiness. However, soon a fruity freshness comes through with raspberries and underlying nuttiness. Hints oa ginger and spices as well. Finish is quite bitter. This is a classic beer, that still stands up well.
