Description
Brewer of real ales, with over 150 pubs across the South of England. The original Northgate Brewery had been in existence since at least 1837. Henry Wadworth bought the company in 1875, moving to the present purpose built Northgate Brewery building in 1885. John Smith Bartholomew, Wadworth's son-in-law, became a partner in 1887, and it has been owned by the Bartholomew family ever since. In 2016 Wadworth brewery completed an ambitious 4 years investment plan to move all aspects of the brewery onto one location.

Cask @ The Goat and Tricycle. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are fruits, flowers, malt and hops. Sweet malty and light bitter finish.

Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, fruity malt, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sweet malt, pale malt, fruity malt, hop and malt bitter. Clear medium amber orange colour with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, pale nuts. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, pale malt, sweet malt, malty, pale nuts, rich malt. Old rating lost from Ratebeer... original rated 24/06/2016. 500ml bottle. Clear-hazy copper orange colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, dried/dark fruit. Taste also malty, sweet, citrus, with a light hoppy bitterness.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW) Bristol, March 2019. Copper in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Red berries, caramel, digestive malts, and a gently bitter finish. Ok.
