Cask at CBC SMA - London. Pours brown with a frothy, mocha head. The aroma holds modest toasted malts, milk chocolate, a little earth. Light-medium sweet flavour with smooth chocolatey character, a little bittersweet baking cocoa, dried berries, coffee ice cream. Light bodied, velvety, with fine carboantion. Pretty well balanced on the finish, with more smooth and lightly gooey chocolate character, subtle ashy bitterness, more baking cocoa, dark fruits and nips of sweet and creamy coffee. Somewhat simple but quite enjoyable.

Cask at CBC SMA - London. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. Nice citrusy hops in the nose, tangerine pith, lemon rind, grapefruit. Light sweet flavour with pleasant citrus notes, some roar and peach, then fairly assertive grassy bitterness, which is a touch out of balance; all of it underscored with biscuity pale malts. Light bodied with delicate carboantion; good condition. Finishes with more pithy citrus, grassy and rindy bitterness, a little honey and husky pale grain. Not bad overall.

Keg at CBC SMA. Pours mostly clear, rich brown with a small, foamy off-white head. Light roast in the nose, burnt sugars, well toasted bread and pine. Medium to big sweet flavour with notes of ripening citrus, brown bread, mild roast, cocoa, raisins. Full bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Resinous and lightly warming to finish, with some ripe berries, gooey orange, oily pine, mellow bitterness, chocolate. Fun stuff.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Nearly black. Minimal head. Nose is all Black Forest gateau. Loads of cocoa and black cherry yoghurt. Vanilla. Nailed on really. Taste is light, vanilla sweet, with a little woody, ashy dryness. Light to medium body. A bit thin, maybe. Ashy, woody finish. Smells great, but trails off thereafter.

Bottle consumed at Electric Bear Taproom, Friday 3rd February 2017 It’s following a well trodden path but it’s a damn good red IPA, soft in the mouth. steady bitterness, a little numbing hoppiness, good fruity bite throughout, good furriness coats roof of the mouth. Loz love’s this, hoppy burps aplenty. I’m sure it’s been done many times before but believe me this is v.good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle consumed at Electric Bear Taproom, Friday 3rd February 2017 Superb clarity, gold, clean white head. Unusual but very interesting, floral, fruity and with a pleasant perfumey edge. I really like this, it’s. tommy opposite from all we’ve had tonight. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Keg consumed at Electric Bear Taproom, Friday 3rd February 2017 A hoppy Porter, smooth but a little thin, dark brown with a light beige head. Some light chocolate comes through in the mouth and on the nose, it’s pleasant but not really breaking out of the pack. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3
