Cask at Volley Bristol. It pours golden with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, bright citrus, grapefruit, lemon, green, grassy, toasty and lemonade. The taste is dry, bitter, biscuit, lemonade, oily, lime, pine needles, gooseberry, soapy with a drying, soapy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not bad. Scoopable.

Bottle shared on the train to Brizzle. Thanks to the stag. Pours oily black-brown with Abby, foamy mocha head. The nose holds scorched mats, baking cocoa, earth, ashy roast. Medium sweet flavour with lots of bitter dark chocolate, hearty ash, more earth. Full bodied, chewy, with lovely carbonation. Warming finish with some further strong torched malts, drying ash, alcohol, bitter cocoa. Really good stuff overall. Quite hearty.

Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours opaque jet black with a medium dark tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred wood, ashy, dark chocolate, chocolate cake, nougat, toasted marshmallow and rocky road. The taste is dry, bitter, charred wood, bitter - sweet, dark chocolate, sticky, chocolate cake, umami, oaky, burnt toasty, charry/ash, peppery spice, warming and tannin with drying finish. Fulsome body and high, foamy carbonation. A bit charred perhaps, but really good fun.

Dan's Stag. Train rate. Thanks to Dan for the bottle. Opaque dark brown beer, good dark tan head. Fluffy palate, very light, decent fine carbonation. Fluffy dark malts, decent dark chocolate. Little dark malt cream. Spicy mid. Good complex fruits on the back end. Dark fruits and a touch of red berries. Some bourbon barrel rises to the top, trace of skewed alcohol. Nice. Rich and drinkable.
