500ml bottle from Hop Vault, Stourbridge, online. Clear gold with small brief fizzy white head. Basic aroma of pale malts, honey, some lemon. Smells a bit like a shandy. Taste is sweet malts, honey, lemonade, dry bitterness. Light and refreshing, best shandy I've had!

500ml bottle now called 'Gothic Stout'. Purchased at Hop Vault. Pours black, thin white head which leaves some bubbles. Roasted malt and blackberry aroma. Taste is quite roasty with coffee, chocolate and berry notes. Moderate bitterness throughout. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation. Quite tasty.

500ml bottle: BBE March 2025. Poured into a vase shaped pint glass at home on 17th November 2024. Looked good, a clean and clear amber body with a soft white crown. Malty molasses in the nose and taste, toffee and caramel sweetness to the fore, it does calm down towards the finish when it becomes a little drier and slightly bitter, my sweet tooth really took to this.

[June 2023] Clear and golden with a frothy white head and a subtle malty nose, just a hint of citrus. Smooth and hoppy with a hint of bitterness and a light malty finish

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small tan head. There’s ginger and malts in the aroma. In the mouth it is briefly sweet with a creamy texture at the start but very quickly becomes peppery with ganger again to the fore, alongside roast malts and molasses plus hints of dark fruits and coffee. Finish is slightly spicy. This is quite nice – the ginger is fairly restrained.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. As 'Gothic Stout'. Dark brown, slightly opaque with a small tight beige/khaki head. Strong aroma of treacle and black liquorice. Taste is extremely sweet - almost sickly but for a bitterness sneaking in for the finish. Apothecary sweets in the finish among rhe herbal bitterness. Slight body with soft natural carbonation. Intriguing and delicious.

Gravity pour at the Anvil Inn, Shifnal on 6th October 2023, beer festival in progress. Dark brown, no head. I think this is their 'Gothic' with Ginger added somewhere in the brewing process, most likely late on. Anyway it's not to gingery in nature, just enough to give a hint of heat and a ginger dusting to the malty base brew.
