12 oz. can. Pours black, with a small, tan head. The nose is creme brulee, cappuccino, light chicory, and walnuts. Sweet and malty, with a lovely, mellow, roasty bitterness. Thick, syrupy, and dusty. Well done and delicious.

Pour is a thick black sludge with a large mocha tan head. Aroma cinnamon, roasted malt and alcohol. Flavor is marshmallow sweetness with some barrel smoke and thick molasses. While a decent beer not enough of the barrel came out. This had plenty of thick malt and sweetness but a little more balance would do it some good. Not a bourbon county clone by a long shot but plenty flavorful. My bottle said this years version is 12% abv.

Great. Misread the canning date and I’ve ended up with a well-aged imperial NEIPA. You know what, though? For a hazy beer canned in July, this can of Puffel ain’t terrible. Yet, the malts and yeast have an aged quality, but they give an apple-laced sweetness to the pint, while the citrus from the hops has gone from juicy to complementary. A slight vegetal note makes me think fresh Puffel might be overhopped, but it isn’t a dealbreaker here. Do I want an old IPA? No. Will I drink this Puffel? Why not.

12 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a clear bronze color with a small khaki head and fair retention. Minor spots of lacing. Strong caramel malt aroma. A very sweet caramel malt flavor to match the nose. No bitterness. Definitely an American style Oktoberfest beer. Clean, smooth and simple. Medium-light body. Semi-slick mouthfeel. Low carbonation. A bit unbalanced, but I like sweet beers.

Orange, lime, malt, pine, and grapefruit peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate white head. Moderately sweet orange, lime, biscuit malt, and moderately bitter dank pine and grapefruit peel flavor. Good body.

Basic amber, with notes of toast, honey, caramel, and little apple. Finish offers a little yeast and a hint of bitterness. Nothing really wrong, just not a lot to set it apart from other ambers.
