Can. Beer Central. Mostly clear gold. Slim super sticky lasting white head. Nose is big on the sappy pine. Ripened citrus. Light buttery malts. Taste has some sweetness but is mostly piny and resinous bitter. Full of body and bitterness. Drinks mighty fine overall. Lingering bitterness to finish. Class in bitter simplicity.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. 5.5%. Hazed pale gold. Decent white foam starts off voluminous and settles fairly solid. Nose has all the yeasty esters. Ripe banana. Clove. Taste is sweet with some weird astringency. Some tartness on the palate too with high-ish carbonation. Finishes similarly. Sets off good but gets a bit wonky.

Can picked up at the brewery. Dirty pale gold. Loose suds of off white. Not especially a looker. Nose has some fusty notes. Bit of on the turn stone fruit. Sweet grain. Taste is pretty sweet. Comes across a bit old or oxidised. Light bitter finish. Not great.

Can. A Xmas gift from the missus. Soft haze on a medium gold. Slim sticky lasting white foam. Nose has fruity light spicy light herbal character on top of clean bready malt. Taste is semi sweet with moderate bitterness and a faint tingle of spice from, presumably, the ginger. The juniper and orange zest are noticeable but subtle. Light spicy bitter finish. Nice one. Comes together really well.

Bottle. Kernel advent box. Nearly black. Immense swede. Literally nobody does a better swede. Phenomenal. Anyway. Char and a touch of treacle. Scorched citrus fruit. Definitely hitting BIPA territory here. Taste has some sweetness up front with a robust bitterness. Super creamy overall. Proper unputdownable. Roast malt and juicy hop bitterness to finish. Drinking this Xmas day after a fuck off pile of other class gear but it stands out ridiculous.

Holy fucking bollocks I’ll try a third fucking time then. Fucking fuck off. Bottle. Kernel advent box. Hazed gold. Could have been mostly clear but I tipped all the shit in. Beautiful Kernel swede. Nose has an unreal medley of pineapple flesh and skin. Proper dank leafy sweaty Simcoe. Juicy slightly overripe orange and sweet grapefruit. Even a bit of soggy stone fruit for good measure. Taste has some fleeting sweetness getting robust pithy piny bitter. Creamy and good drinking. Bitter finish lingers nicely. Pretty stunning overall.

Can. Beer Central Sheffield. Bit of a muddy deep copper colour. Decent cream coloured lasting foam. Nose has caramel. Roast coffee malts, weirdly. Jammy hop. Some herbal piny notes. Taste is pretty sweet with a bit of a dark chocolate thing going on. Turns pithy piny bitter. Good body overall with hefty bitterness to finish. It’s like a hoppy export India porter, a red ale, and an American brown ale rolled into one. Bit all over the shop but I did enjoy it.
